FAQs

Why choose Better Life Centre?

We’re a team of highly trained psychologists and occupational therapists in one convenient Kedron location. With experience across children, teens, adults and families, we focus on practical, evidence-based support tailored to your needs and goals.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book without a referral. If you’d like to reduce out-of-pocket costs, ask your GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist about a Medicare referral (if eligible). Private health rebates can also be processed in-clinic via HICAPS (eligibility varies by fund).

How soon can I get an appointment?

In most cases, you can book in within around 4 weeks, depending on clinician availability. If you need something sooner, contact our reception team and we’ll do our best to help. In an emergency, call 000.

Do you offer telehealth or phone appointments?

Yes. If you can’t attend in person, ask our reception team about phone or telehealth options. Payment is taken prior to the session, and private health rebates may apply depending on your cover.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Please let us know as early as possible. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice may incur a fee. See our Cancellation Policy for details.

FEES & PAYMENTS

Prior to your first appointment, you’ll receive an email with your clinician’s details, relevant fees, and directions to the clinic. In some cases, we may include forms to complete and return via email, or you can complete them in person on the day.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to your first appointment to allow time for intake and pre session forms on our secure in house system.

You’ll also receive an SMS reminder a few days before your appointment to confirm. Please reply as prompted, or contact us to reschedule with at least 24 hours notice (see our Cancellation Policy). SMS reminders are a complimentary service and, while reliable, technical issues can occasionally occur.

On arrival, please check in with reception so they can let your clinician know you’re here.

Payment is taken at the end of your session. If applicable, we can process Medicare or HICAPS private health rebates in clinic. Please bring your Medicare and or private health insurance cards. If you’re attending under a GP or specialist referral, please bring your referral or ensure we’ve received a copy prior to your appointment.

Your clinician may also benefit from any supporting documents such as previous therapy reports, diagnostic reports, questionnaires, or relevant records. Please also review our Cancellation Policy and Privacy Policy.

Extended Medicare Safety Net: If you receive Medicare rebates under the standard schedule, you may be eligible for higher rebates through the Extended Medicare Safety Net. Individuals do not need to register, but families (including dependents or de facto couples) may need to register. You can find details on the Services Australia website.
